This is an Intermediate rated crochet pattern.


Abbreviations (US):

Sc: Single crochet

Ch: Chain

Inc: Increase

Dec: Decrease

Sts: Stitches

R: Round

FLO: Front loop only

BLO: Back loop only

(...) x: Repeat stitches within parentheses ... times

Sk: Skip one stitch


Tools and Materials: 

  • Size H/5mm crochet hook

  • Yarn needle

  • Stuffing

  • Scissors

  • 12 mm safety eyes

  • ILoveThisYarn in Menthe (<1 skein) (medium/worsted weight)

  • ILoveThisYarn in Brown (<1 skein) (medium/worsted weight)


Final Size:

About 4" tall and 4" long

Technical Notes and Gauge:

  1. Crochet in continuous spiral rounds, unless specified otherwise. Use a stitch marker or piece of yarn to keep track of the last stitch in each round.

  2. When filling with polyester stuffing, pull apart each large chunk into many smaller chunks. This ensures an even distribution of firmness within the amigurumi.

  3. I am using ILoveThisYarn, but you can use any worsted, medium weight yarn.




Head: (in Menthe)

  • R1: sc6 in MR (6 sts)

  • R2: inc x6 (12 sts)

  • R3: (sc, inc) x6 (18 sts)

  • R4: (sc2, inc) x6 (24 sts)

  • R5: (sc3, inc) x6 (30 sts)

  • R6-10: sc30 (30 sts)

  • R11: (sc3, dec) x6 (24 sts)

  • R12: (sc2, dec) x6 (18 sts)

  • R13: (sc, dec) x6 (12 sts)

You have now completed the head. Stuff the head and insert safety eyes before you continue to the neck. The neck will not be stuffed

  • R14 (FLO): sc12 (12 sts)

  • R15-21: sc12 (12 sts)

Cut yarn, leaving a long tail for sewing the head to the body.

Body: (in Brown and Menthe)

  • (in Brown) R1: sc6 in MR (6 sts)

  • R2: inc x6 (12 sts)

  • R3: (sc, inc) x6 (18 sts)

  • R4: (sc2, inc) x6 (24 sts)

  • R5: (sc3, inc) x6 (30 sts)

  • R6: (sc4, inc) x6 (36 sts)

  • R7-8: sc36 (36 sts)

Change color to Menthe.

  • R9 (BLO): sc36 (36 sts)

  • R10: (sc4, dec) x6 (30 sts)

  • R11: (sc3, dec) x6 (24 sts)

  • R12: (sc2, dec) x6 (18 sts)

  • R13: (sc, dec) x6 (12 sts)

Stuff the body.

  • R14: dec x6 (6 sts)

Cut yarn short, tying off and weaving the tail into the body.

Feet: (in Menthe) x4

  • R1: sc6 in MR (6 sts)

  • R2: inc x6 (12 sts)

  • R3 (BLO): sc12 (12 sts)

  • R4-5: sc12 (12 sts)

  • R6: (sc, dec) x4 (8 sts)

  • R7: sc8 (8 sts)

Stuff the foot. Cut the tail long for sewing onto the body.

Tail: (in Menthe)

  1. R1: sc4 in MR. Ch1, turn work

  2. Inc, sc2, inc

Cut the tail long for sewing onto the body.


Assembly

  1. Pinch the neck and sew through both sides. Sew head to the body

  1. Sew the feet on the sides of the body

  1. Fold the tail over on itself like a taco. Sew it between the back two legs underneath the shell

  1. (optional) Thread a strand of white beside the eyes. Weave ends into the head
